Stop and Waste valves

Tis the season to turn off your sprinklers! We have fixed quite a few of these sprinkler shut off valves or other wise known as stop and waste valves. The reason they are called stop and waste valves is because when they shut off the allow the water in the line on the exit side of the valve to be drained out of the valve. This help prevent back flow and freezing. In logan city limits you should have these jobs inspected by a inspector after they are installed. This is because they are directly connected to the main water line that provides water to your home. If these valves are installed incorrectly or are not cleaned and sanitized correctly they could carry bacteria or germs that could make your family sick. Having the city inspect stop and waste valves and all your main water line repairs allows the city to verify that we are doing things correctly and give you their stamp of approval that the job is done correctly and is up to local and state plumbing codes. Stop and waste valves should be installed in gravel to help keep dirt and sand out of the valve. We have ways of getting to these valves with our excavating equipment that in most cases are lawn and landscape friendly. This helps keep job cost low and helps you keep as much of your original landscape as possible. Give us a call at (435) 750-0880 if you have problems with your main water line to your home or business or visit our web site and send us an email. www.BridgePlumbing.net
